Livestock tagging is an essential part of a 4-H Livestock Project. In order for youth to participate in the Jr. Livestock Program they have to establish proof of ownership.

    Ownership deadlines are as follows:

Sheep: 60 days prior to the show they wish to attend

Hogs: 60 days prior to the show they wish to attend

Goats: 60 days prior to the show they wish to attend

Steers: 100 days prior to the show they wish to attend

Ownership deadlines are established by having animals tagged. 4-H animals must be tagged by the Extension Agent. FFA animals must be tagged by their FFA Advisor. This is done at tagging dates throughout the year.

All tags must be paid for PRIOR to tagging the animal. This will all be done through 4-H Online. Registration will close 2 DAYS prior to the tagging date. It is each exhibitor’s responsibility to ensure their animal is properly tagged. Please arrange your schedules to attend one of the tagging days listed below or contact your FFA Advisor. Please do NOT expect the agent to come to you.

If you have extenuating circumstances that prevent you from attending a tagging please contact Katelyn Hepworth by email at katelyn.bell@usu.edu NO LATER than 2 weeks prior to the tagging date.
